Poem-A-Day. Day 23. A shoe poem.

I got a tad behind starting with this prompt. Part of that was that the prompt stumped me. I mean, yeah, shoes. I love them. But a poem? *sigh As usual in a case like that, I found the solution was just to let go and play, to not worry about writing a great, impactful poem. This one is for Carrie, again. And also Caitlin and Erica. Because shoes.

How was your day?, you ask.

I need to go shoe shopping, I say.

You say, Hold on, let me get my keys.

You understand

how shoes can

be cozy, confident, cold,

can whoop or howl,

say STOP, right there.

They conquer.

They dance.

They dare.

They boot, slide,

flip and flop.

They slip, clap, and climb.

Fixing absolutely nothing,

they fix everything.
