Poem-A-Day. Day 27. A take off poem.

Take off from where you stand

for Winston

Take off

from where you stand.

Sure, you can always

be stronger,

circumstances more certain,

sure your parents may not approve,

your friends not understand.

You might not get very far,

might make a slow-motion fall, or

drop like a stone.

“I’m not good at it”—

a phrase that should bear a warning

from our surgeon general.

In spite of your nervous

knee-knocking

beautiful fear,

take off

from where you stand.
